An encryption utility for Macintosh communications EnScrypt is a suite of applications (written in Applescript) providing high quality and easy-to-use encryption and digital signatures for many of the applications Mac enthusiasts use for text processing and communication. Different modules in the suite work with various applications including Eudora, Entourage, Mail (Apple), Tex-Edit Plus, Microsoft Word. More are on the way. Each module is designed to be fully compatible with every other module, meaning that users can create encrypted text with one application, send the message to a correspondent, who can then decrypt it with a different application. The typical use for EnScrypt would be secure communications. Because it uses a state-of-the-art encryption algorithm (Blowfish) with a 128 bit key, you would probably call it "strong encryption", although the use of shorter or overly simple passwords would surely compromise the security. EnScrypt also includes "SHA1" for digital signatures.
