December 12th, 2007... Christmas is here. No presents for Skype until after the New Year.

Skype usage is very light today... about 300k fewer users online at 1600 GMT than in recent days. What's going on?

Answer: it's perfectly normal. Every year at this time there is a slowdown that begins about two weeks before Christmas and lasts until two weeks after Christmas. Basically, people just aren't at work using Skype. We've already seen Skype's top usage for 2007.

As I did last year, I am preparing an analysis of the year's Skype growth, and will attempt once again to make some predictions for 2008. Come back on or about December 31st. I'll explain this graph and more.
