As users sign on and off, there are three waves (bell shaped curves) of usage each day. The peaks of the waves correspond to daytime and especially worktime Skype usage around the globe. The waves in turn correspond to continental populations in time zones from a. Australia & Asia, b. Europe & Africa, and the Americas (North and South). The size and shape of the three waves is inferred from the data. Here is a graph of a recent 24 hour weekday period.
